WILD HARVESTING

Whale Pass and the surrounding areas have many different opportunities for the outdoorsman to spend a day enjoying nature while searching for wild mushrooms, berries and clams.

 

*BERRIES- You will find many locations in and around Whale Pass where you can spend time picking several kinds of berries from wild red & blue Huckleberries, Salmon berries, Thimble berries and low bush Cranberries.

 

*CLAM DIGGIN"- Multiple low tides per month in our area offer clam digging opportunities. You can find Butter, Steamer & Cockles to name a few for an added treat to a meal. 

 

*MUSHROOMS- There are a wide variety of edible mushrooms to be found on the Island. Just to name a few, Chantrells (Golden & Winter), Hedge Hogs, King Boletes ,and our favorite Chicken of the Woods. Our local library has several books on wild mushrooms for reference.

 

OUTDOORS & SIGHT SEEING 

 If you are looking for a day of exploring/sight seeing then you have come to the right place, there are so many options of things to see & do while visiting this beautiful Island

 

*HIKING- There are over 20 hiking trails involving a range of levels of difficulty for the hiking enthusiast.

 

*CAVE EXPLORATION- Many caves can be found here to explore, Cavern Lake, Starlight, Devil's Canopy and El Capitan caves are a few..

 

*WILD LIFE VIEWING- Dog Salmon Fish Pass is only one of several great places to view Bears during Salmon season,

 

*TOURS- there are several different tours available that we can book for you.

*Mountain Biking, Kayaking/Canoeing & Beach Combing

 

*SCENIC DRIVES- There is over 1500 miles of road systems on the Island from paved roads to back country gravel logging roads. All featuring amazing scenic views.
